Institute for Financial Success
Institute for Financial Success (IFS) is a faith-based organization dedicated to presenting solutions and making individuals aware of basic financial needs. We partner with local and national financial institutions and educators through way of our volunteers and through sponsorships. Through a series of various workshops, small group studies and conferences, we show youth through seniors the importance of setting goals in every area of their finances. We also teach them how to plan for the continuous achievement of these goals. We utilize the financial expertise of some of our partners to help direct people with individual needs. IFS is a unique combination of the expertise of the financial industry and the teachings from the Bible that help individuals set and accomplish worthwhile goals. IFS began first as a Sunday School class in February 1999 to teach individuals financial principles from a Christian perspective. New Covenant Church of Philadelphia then established us as an organization through their education arm, Covenant International Institute (CII) to provide financial education and to present financial solutions through a financial conference in April of 2001. We have had a total of four conferences and one housing expo that has resulted in hundreds of individuals learning sound financial principles and availing themselves to a plethora of resources from various national organizations such as Salomon Smith Barney, Crown Financial Ministries, Freedom Financial, GMAC Mortgage, and Citi Group. They also received invaluable information from local groups such as Sovereign Bank, Citizens Bank, Consumer Credit Counsel Services Delaware Valley, Martino & Miles Advisors, Legacy Strategies Group and Spirit Financial Group. Some of our past conference topics have been, “Planning For Your Financial Success,” “ Building and Preserving Wealth,” “More Than Finances…A Design for Freedom,” and “Building Your Financial House.” In addition to the main events such as an all day or multiple day conference, we also conduct interactive workshops during the year where we teach financial principles and explain how various financial products work. We have covered topics such as budgeting, debt elimination, estate planning, tax planning, insurance, saving, investing, real estate, mortgages and more. In 2004, we expanded our financial education to include youth in the 1st Grade through 12th grade followed by a focus on the financial needs of senior citizens. This year, our financial conference theme is "Developing Multiple Streams of Income." We will teach individuals about the importance of setting financial goals and identifying various income streams to help reach those goals. We will discuss how to find a job that fits your passion, developing a part-time or full-time business, developing income from real estate and more. Then the subsequent workshops to round out the year will build on most of the subjects that will be presented during the conference.
